About
Paul Green School of Rock Music
The Paul Green School of Rock Music is the original performance-based
rock music school in the country for students aged 7 to 17. Built
on Greens philosophy that the best way to learn to play music
is by actually doing it, the School of Rock program supplements
weekly private lessons with group band practice in a challenging
yet supportive environment. The students, who learn by playing classic
rock ranging from the Beatles to Zeppelin, give over 1,000 concerts
each year and have performed at established venues (The Whiskey,
BB Kings, Carnegie Hall) and festivals (Lollapalooza, Austin
City Limits and Zappanale). The Schools All-Stars have performed
with Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder and Perry Farrell, among others,
and in 2007 and 2008 toured with Jon Anderson of Yes as his featured
back-up band. Founded in 1998, the Paul Green School of Rock Music
was the subject of the documentary Rock School, which debuted at
Sundance in 2005, went to national release, and regularly airs on
A&E. The School also served as the apparent inspiration for
the Jack Black hit comedy, School of Rock. The Paul Green School
of Rock (http://www.schoolofrock.com ) has expanded to forty-one
branches coast-to-coast and is projecting to expand to more than
60 locations by the end of 2008.
